2013
For the third year in a row, it will turn into a forest of white hornbeams and weeping willows, open to everyone, 24 hours a day. The layout of the square has gone from 1,200 square meters of the first two editions to almost 2,300 square meters with plants of the plain, of different sizes, from the small forest plant 70 cm high to the mature tree up to 7 meters high. The inspiring theme is that of the plain of Lombardy with water as a characteristic element, which refers to rivers, streams but especially to that dense network of irrigation ditches, irrigation channels that draw the typical Italian landscape. Wood, water, lights and furniture are connected by a sinuous path in red that crosses and connects all areas and that, seen from above, symbolizes the bends of the plains rivers. This year’s Piazza is also a tribute to Bergamo’s candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2019.
